Hi, i’m Daniel.

I’m a brand and graphic designer with experience across identity, campaign design, environmental graphics, employer branding, and print, working with independent businesses, growing organisations, and enterprise-scale clients.

I’ve been doing this for over ten years across freelance, studio, and in-house environments, working domestic, remote, and diverse overseas clients. That includes lead designer at Hay & Rice, a Cambridge design agency where brand and graphic design was core to our work across more than 70 projects, and nearly three years within the brand team at Redgate Software, a Cambridge-based SaaS company expanding into new markets.

My approach

Good brand work starts with understanding what an organisation is, who it’s for, and what it needs to communicate.

That means getting under the skin of the brief before committing to a creative direction; researching the market, understanding the audience, and identifying what makes the client distinctive before a single visual decision gets made.

From there the work spans identity design, campaign development, print and digital asset production, and the systems and guidelines that let brands scale consistently. I’m comfortable working across the full lifecycle of a brand or campaign, from initial concept through to delivery and ongoing brand guardianship.

At Hay & Rice I worked across a broad range of sectors; biomedical and technology companies, legal firms, chambers of commerce, restaurants, and consumer businesses — designing brands that clients could grow with rather than outgrow. At Redgate I worked within an established brand at scale, maintaining consistency across a high volume of output while pushing the brand into new territory through activation, campaigns, events, and environmental design.

Cavendish House, Redgate Software

Cavendish House was the fit-out of Redgate’s new Cambridge headquarters. Working alongside a professional interiors firm, I was responsible for everything visual in the space, from exterior building signage down to the smallest interior detail. The brief was to make the building feel unmistakably Redgate from the moment you walked in, while designing a system flexible enough to roll out across other Redgate locations worldwide.

The project covered wayfinding, environmental graphics, wall treatments, and branded elements throughout the building. It required close collaboration with the interiors team, contractors, and Redgate leadership throughout.

Richardson Tree Surgery

Brand identity and web design for a local tree surgery business, alongside ongoing SEO work that produced measurable results. A credible brand and well-structured site makes a tangible difference to how a small business is perceived and found online, and this project is a straightforward example of design having direct commercial impact.

Flyway With Us, Redgate Software

A product campaign for Redgate Flyway, their database migration tool. I coined the campaign name, led the full creative output — concept, slogan, custom iconography, landing page, a plane-shaped event booth, promotional video, and swag — and oversaw delivery across international events and creative activations. It was a chance to push the Redgate brand into more playful territory than day-to-day work allowed, and the result held together across every touchpoint.
